Here are seven suggestions for creating a successful daily routine for your puppy’s activities:

Early training is essential for Doodles.. Before beginning puppy training, you  must decide what type of dog you  want. Whether you want a jogging buddy, a companion for a child or a therapy dog, it all comes down to training.

Before you bring home your puppy, it’s a good idea to plan out a schedule., This will make them feel safe and settle in faster.

Here are seven suggestions (Training tips for doodle) for creating a successful daily routine for your puppy’s activities:

Begin early

Don’t wait to start training your Doodle puppy. Once you feel the puppy has become acquainted with their new surroundings, you can start training and establishing positive daily habits. The quicker a daily schedule is introduced, the quicker they will be to pick up good behaviors and have less accidents.

Make a list of the daily routine

Don’t just focus on just one aspect of training, creating a schedule for all their activities will help your Doodle puppy thrive in their environment.

Schedule time for all of these activities and stick to it.

  • Mealtimes
  • Potty breaks
  • Formal training sessions (Sit, speak, etc…)
  • Playtime
  • Walks
  • Sleep time

Determine Your Dog’s Mealtime

Puppies have fast metabolism so they need to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most new dog owners plan their puppy’s meals in coordination with their own meal schedules.

Plan on taking your Doodle puppy for regular potty breaks. This will be quite often when they are younger. As they age they should be able to hold more in their bladders and can take fewer breaks. Expect accidents in the beginning, but if you are consistent in training, you will both be successful.

Set the potty break times

Plan on taking your Doodle puppy for regular potty breaks. This will be quite often when they are younger. As they age they should be able to hold more in their bladders and can take fewer breaks. Expect accidents in the beginning, but if you are consistent in training, you will both be successful.

Make time for active sessions

Activities such as games and going for walks can be scheduled in between meals. These sessions require more energy, be sure your pup has eaten enough to sustain the energy level required for each activity.

Schedule a training session

A dog that becomes accustomed to everyday routines will be less difficult to train. However, some dogs who need extra human interaction may seek out attention even if it’s negative. If you feel like your training efforts are no longer effective or if your dog could benefit from learning advanced skills, you can enroll them in puppy classes led by professional trainers. It’s also a great way to socialize your puppy.

Make a Sleep Schedule

Waking up to a fussy puppy is not ideal and neither is finding an accident. To help prevent either situation you should set a sleep time for them that you can stick to. Plan on waking up at least once every night for the first few weeks and remember, they are new to this too, they will learn the routine soon enough, but you both will be a little sleep deprived.

A sample schedule for a new Doodle puppy

  • First thing in the morning: Allow the puppy to relieve himself outside. After they are finished his work, make time to play and connect with them.
  • Breakfast time: Feed the puppy a healthy, puppy friendly meal. Set their bowl down for 20 minutes. After then, pick up the bowl and stop feeding until the next meal (except for small treats used for training). Provide clean water by washing the water dish. Wait 20-30 minutes and take out for a potty break. Now you can play, train, walk and cuddle before nap time.

training tips for the Doodle Puppy

  • A repetition of the early morning ritual – a potty break  outside as soon as he wakes up. Lunch should be followed by another excursion outside. Spend some time with him, playing and teaching him, so he can burn off some energy. Don’t forget to take one more toilet break before your afternoon sleep!
  • Mid-afternoon: It’s time for him to go out — again. And now it’s time to play and practice again. Then it’s time to go pee, and some more quality time with you before supper.
  • Dinner: If you schedule his meals around yours, it will become second nature to feed him either while you’re preparing dinner or while the rest of the family is eating. But keep an eye on him so you can take him outside as soon as he’s done. Give the puppy a chew toy to enjoy in his crate before the family sits down to dinner. He won’t get underfoot this way, and no one will be tempted to feed him from the table.
  • Bedtime: Everyone benefits from a consistent bedtime.  If it becomes a habit, it doesn’t matter if it’s 8 p.m. or 12 a.m. Take them to their crate and assist them in settling in for the night.
  • Night: Set an alarm if your puppy isn’t yet sleeping through the night so you can get up and take them out for a fast, non-adventurous potty break. It’s wise to get up a bit earlier than you think they will so you don’t respond to whining and barking. Then it’s off to bed so you can be ready for another lovely day with your dog!

Building a relationship with the puppy via training could be an enjoyable experience for both.
